COMFORT FOR THOSE WHO ARE HURTING SONGS/SCRIPTURE

It would be difficult to trace exactly the stream of divine coincidences that accompanied the completing of this project, yet those who listen would be denied a central part of its message were the story not told. Unknowingly the Comfort project was born in the untimely passing of Sandy Lis Christman after a 13-year battle with cancer. Friends who had nurtured her through that valley with praise music and scripture were left wishing they had possessed a single resource, specifically aimed at those who are hurting, with both sensitive worship music and appropriate passages of scripture.
At the prompting of those friends and the offer of their backing, the project began to gain momentum, and a remarkable set of circumstances began to unfold. There was Roby Duke who agreed to produce the project, and while speaking of his desire to get Pedro to do the woodwinds, he discovered that the person he was talking to knew Pedro and how to contact him, only to discover that Pedro himself had lost his precious young daughter to cancer.
Then there was Phil Keaggy, who had lost 5 children, and agreed to contribute a masterful composition, and the six voices of young people 12 to 15 all dealing with chronic or terminal illness reading their favorite verses over Phil's hymn.
There was also Susan Fields, who shared her heart and faith in the last days of her struggle with cancer, and went home to her Lord in the middle of the project at 39 years old, leaving a husband and five children.
Finally there was Michael Amos who did the cover art for the CD and the booklet you now hold, a 20-year-old -- very fervent in his faith -- who was taken away in a tragic accident two months before the project was released, and his parents, who lent their encouragement to all through the project. All of these voices have come together to offer the comfort they received from the comfort they received from the Father of all mercies and the God of all comfort to any and all who are hurting (II Corinthians 1:3,4).
